Why Fishlosophy?

Philosophy of Religion is an academic discipline that deals with the problems of religious thought.  This would include such heady topics as the existence of God (theism), the possibility of miracles (semeiology), the problem of evil (theodicy), the mystery of sin (hamartiology), the nature of ultimate reality (ontology), the question of freedom (morality), and the ability to know this kind of stuff (epistemology).

Usually such discourse has been undertaken in the ivory towers of ivy-covered universities by academic theoriticians far removed from the real-world crises of flat tires, dirty diapers, unpaid mortgages, and biting dogs.  This site brings the discussion out of the metaphysical stratosphere and into the down and dirty world where Christians are called to "fish for men."  It's Philosophy of Religion for those who would be Jesus' fishermen. So . . .

It's FISHlosophy!

Wanna Fish?
When Jesus called a crusty fisherman by the name of Peter to become a disciple, he promised that he would become a "fisher of men." Throughout my Christian life I have heard that same analogy used to describe the process of leading people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Sometime ago, however, I realized that when presenting the Gospel to many people, I approached it more like I was hunting than fishing. This, in spite of the fact that nowhere does the Bible say to be "hunters of men."

What You Will & Won't Find Here
This site will be the place for plain-talk discussions about the kinds of things that hinder people from accepting the Christian message. We won't have all the answers here, but we will engage the questions with respect, sincerity, and with the strong conviction that the Master Fisherman will bring into His boat any who approach His Truth with an honest, open mind.

Whether you are a fish who has not yet been pulled out of the deep or an angler whose passion is to fish for men, you will find resources here to help.

What you won't find here is a dismissive spirit, an arrogant attitude, or a callous heart (if you detect such, please let us know). So weigh in with your own questions and comments, and know that we will take them seriously. You can e-mail us at the link below.

What About God?

It has been said that there are two things you must understand if you hope to succeed in life:  First, you should know that there is a God.  Second, you had better understand that it's not you!

But is this first axiom true?  Is there a God?

FISHING FROM THE BRIDGE
Successful fishermen bridge the gap between the Savior and the seeker. If you have a question, let's see if we can span that gap!
